Welcome to the world’s first charity for Vulval (vulvar) Health.  From an idea born in 1999 and launched globally in the Millennium year – 2000.

Addressing challenges in one of the most neglected areas of women’s health today.

The female external genital area is known as the VULVA.  It is not the vagina.  The vagina is in close proximity to the vulva but it is different.  The vulva is pure skin, the vagina is mucosal skin.

There are many conditions that can affect vulval health.  On this site, the aim will be to concentrate on vulval skin conditions and in particular those that may lead to vulval cancer, as well as focussing on the challenges of making awareness for cancer of the vulva.  The British Society for the Study of Vulval Disease has a more comprehensive list of conditions that affect the vulva (BSSVD).

VHAC will be concerned with making awareness for:

EXTRA-MAMMARY PAGET’S DISEASE OF THE VULVA
VULVAL CANCER/CANCER OF THE VULVA (VULVAR)

In addition, in the process of developing this site, VHAC acknowledges the isolation which women feel when diagnosed with and learning to live with a vulval health problem.  It aims to provide Forums for women to feel less alone, to share, to discuss with other women the challenges being faced.
